Hodgkin's Disease (lymphoma)
Hodgkin's disease is a cancer which affects the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is the body's natural defence against infection. It is made up of a network of lymph glands (nodes) which are situated throughout the body in the neck, armpits, chest, abdomen and groin. Tiny lymph vessels connect the glands. The tonsils and the spleen (which breaks down old blood cells), are also part of the lymphatic system.
It is normally treated with chemotherapy and sometimes radiotherapy, and carries a good survival rate.
